I said this probably wouldn't work either, because the issues from the first CD attempt hadn't been resolved. Live chat suggested that I download the trial version and then attempt to use my legitimate serial number. Copying the contents of the CD to the desktop didn't get better results. Live chat suggested that I change the ODBE (or something like that) file to "old" and then try again. When I do this, the Manager finds no errors. Now when I try to install, I receive a message saying that the "Installation failed to initialize" and that I must clink on the link for Support Advisor. Then nothing happened for over an hour, so I cancelled the installation and rebooted my machine. The CD seemed to work the installation started. I purchased CS5.5 Design Premium on a CD and attempted to install it. Now I'm truly stuck, and live chat hasn't been helpful at all (no responses to my questions, just instructions ignoring what I'm saying, which is basically that I tried all the suggestions/instructions already, and they didn't work). So, while Adobe's official position is that you should follow their system requirements for what OS their software works on, users like John T Smith can try to give you workarounds to get stuff working on unsupported configurations.I've used Adobe products for over 20 years. It's generally considered best practice to use old software on old computers with old operating systems. To be honest, expecting software that's as old as CS5.5 to work on a brand new operating system is somewhat unrealistic. That being said the current version of many of Adobe's CC titles aren't fully ready for Sierra yet and have weird bugs on that OS, so I would be unsurprised that something as old as CS5.5 would have issues too. ACPs are just users like you who spend a lot of time volunteering in the forums (and other parts of the community) trying to help other users. The person you are talking to is not Adobe and isn't even an Adobe employee. Please take some responsibility and GET THIS SORTED OUT. I think it's wrong that you (Adobe) are basically washing your hands of the problem.
